Enhancing Biodiversity

Biodiversity is essential for plant breeding, crop diversity and more. The interconnectedness of agriculture and nature is at the heart of Syngenta’s commitment to help biodiversity flourish. Ensuring a sustainable food supply requires each of us to play a part in preserving our land – and protecting pollinators and other beneficial insects. We invite you on an interactive journey below to explore our resources and discover why biodiversity matters.

on theFarm

Most farms include marginal, less productive land, which can provide crucial habitats for wildlife. Started more than 15 years ago, Syngenta’s Operation Pollinator program supports growers in their effort to convert marginal farmland into corridors of vegetation that provide habitat and foraging environments for pollinators.

Field Edge

Planting strips of vegetation along the edges of farm properties and waterways prevent runoff and retain soil and nutrients, including potassium, nitrogen and phosphorus.

Farmers and landowners who have wildlife habitat management issues can access conservation and resource management assistance programs.5

Better habitat connectivity allows wildlife to more easily spread and migrate with seasonal and climate changes, as well as enhances overall biodiversity and ecosystem resilience.6
